Childhood: Grew up on a diversified dry-land farm/ranch operation in north-central Montana.
Fort Benton High School graduate (1964)
– Emphasis in agriculture, music (college prep)
– Highlights: Scholarship to the College of Agriculture, Heisey award recipient, National Honor Society
Montana State University 1964 through 1969 (summer of 1970)
– B.S. Degree in Agriculture Education, with teaching certificate
– Minor in Biological Sciences, with teaching certificate
– Emphasis in vocal performance
– Worked for the University part time, due to excellence in course work, as an aid to the instructor to help classmates with their skill development and learning.
– M.S. Degree in Agriculture Education, with emphasis in School Administration
Teaching Career 1969 through 1974
– Malta High School, Malta, MT
– Taught grades nine through twelve (plus some adult education) as a Vocational Agriculture Instructor and Vocal Music Instructor; participated in development of a behavioral-objective curriculum for Vocational Education courses throughout Montana.
Farming and Ranching Career: 1974 through 1984
– Irrigated alfalfa and small grains
– Livestock production (cattle, hogs, and sheep)
Financial Career: 1984 through 2008
– Investment Broker, investment management, corporate officer (four different corporations), developed computerized strategic and tactical investment management systems for commodity trading advisory management and hedge fund management of investment capital (dealing in stock indexes and derivatives using arbitrage and hedging techniques).
